Kids & Family Games
Family Game Night can be the hilight of your week! It is a time where everyone can unplug and enjoy time together.
For families that prefer to not be competitive we have a selection of Co-Op games where everyone is trying to defeate the board game and either all win together or all loose together.
Playing with smaller chldren it can be a challenge. Some games require reading and those who don’t have very simplistic rules which lead to bordom for the older players. We’ve been reasearching solutions and have come upon a novel idea. Most games with simple decision trees will keep older players engaged for about 10 minutes. The games that fall into this category simply only last 10 to 15 minutes. The game ends before anyone gets bored and the child wants to play again. Resetting the decision tree and resetting the attention span so the game continues to be fun.
Here are some of our Favorites
Bermuda Pirates
Set sale for the high seas.
Bermuda Pirates is a fun memory and dexterity game where you have to use a single finger to pilot your ship around the board collecting treasure while avoiding obstacles. But there be dangers in these waters. Hidden beneath the waves are metal plates while your boat has magnets in it. Crossing too near will cause you to be sucked into a whirlpool and may throw your treasure overboard! Use bouys to mark dangerout locations or to attempt to mislead your rivals.
First one to get a full set of all the colored treasures back to their hideout wins the game. For added fun try one of the rule variants to add a level of complexity and even allow stealing from your opponents!
Boop
Boop is one of those game that is deceptivly simple. In essence your playing tick-tac-toe….with cats.
The Game start off with kittens and are players are trying to get 3 of them in a row. They are then removed from the board and grow them into cats. To win you get 3 cats in a row or all your cats placed onto the bed. However, much like everything with cats it’s not some simple. Every time a kitten or cat is placed next to another it “Boops” them one space away. You must strategicly place your pieces to set up a board state you can use to your advantage. Cats are your anchors as they cannot be moved by kittens but can be moved by other cats. This leads to the game being much more in depth than it first appears.
Winner of the Mensa Select game award it is not only fun but allows development of strategic planning skills as you have to predict how your turn will affect the board.

My First Games
These games are a category rather than a single game. We have a good line of games that are “My First” or “Junior” versions of the adult versions of the game. Perfect for 12 years old and under they give the feel of the games with simplified rules that allow kids to experience the game until they are ready to graduate to the full version.
An example is Castle Panic with is a cooperative game where all players work together to defend a castle from invading orcs, but rather than a full 360 board to keep track of the “My First” version is a single path to defend that all the orcs are assaulting.
